She is a contemplative, teacher and socially engaged activist and feminist. She is the director of Bodhicitta Foundation India (a charity helping ex &#8220;untouchable&#8221; Indian economically disadvantaged people). She is also abbess of Bodhicitta Dakini Monastery, Australia. Ayya wrote &#8220;Everyday Enlightenment&#8221; published by Harper Collins and has 95,000 hits on her sacred chants CD &#8220;Dakini.&#8221; Ayya&#8217;s maxim is: &#8220;Dont curse the darkness, light a candle.&#8221; (Gandhi).
