It&#8217;s a long way away still but it gives interested participants a chance to take leave from work and to read up on the various places we will visit. Ven. Vimala wil join the pilgrimage to give explanations and teachings along the way.<\/p>\n<p>The Buddhist sites are very special places and a pilgrimage to the sites where the Buddha was born, became enlightened, taught many suttas and passed away is an experience of a lifetime. These are beautiful places where for thousands of years monastics and pilgrims have meditated and the energy is serene and strong.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7964 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.samita.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/theravada-4719761_640-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.samita.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/theravada-4719761_640-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.samita.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/theravada-4719761_640.jpg 427w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/suttacentral.net\/dn16\/en\/sujato?lang=en&amp;layout=plain&amp;reference=none&amp;notes=none&amp;highlight=false&amp;script=latin#5.7.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mah\u0101parinibb\u0101nasutta, D\u012bghanik\u0101ya 16<\/a>, it is written (translation by Bhikkhu Sujato):<\/p>\n<p><strong>28.\u00a0 The Four Inspiring Places<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPreviously, sir, when mendicants had completed the rainy season residence in various districts they came to see the Realized One. We got to see the\u00a0esteemed mendicants, and to pay homage to them. But when the Buddha has passed, we won\u2019t get to see the esteemed mendicants or to pay homage to\u00a0them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c\u0100nanda, a faithful gentleman should go to see these four inspiring places. What four? Thinking: \u2018Here the Realized One was born!\u2019\u2014that is an inspiring place. Thinking: \u2018Here the Realized One became awakened as a supreme fully awakened Buddha!\u2019\u2014that is an inspiring place. Thinking: \u2018Here the supreme\u00a0Wheel of Dhamma was rolled forth by the Realized One!\u2019\u2014that is an inspiring place. Thinking: \u2018Here the Realized One became fully extinguished in the element of extinguishment with nothing left over!\u2019\u2014that is an inspiring place.
